Louisiana Disaster Assistance

I am sure that over the last few days we all have been watching our TV’s and seeing what is going on in Louisiana.

We have several members in Louisiana who have lost everything, their homes, cars and personal items. These members live in towns and parishes that are not a part of the flood zone and many did not have flood insurance.

NAAWS, Make A Smile, Corrections Peace Officer Foundation (CPOF) and the Louisiana Association of Wardens and Superintendents (LAWS) are partnering together to assist our Corrections and Law Enforcement family.

NAAWS will be collecting donations and will work through Malcolm Meyers Deputy Director with Louisiana Department of Corrections (LDOC) who will be handling disaster relief. In the upcoming weeks other donations will be needed but right now the correctional employees are in need of financial support.

If you would like to contribute to this fund, you can do it on our website, (www.naawsonline.org), or by check. If you are going to send checks, please make it payable to NAAWS, and send it to NAAWS, P.O. Box 3573, Dublin, OH 43016. Receipts will be provided upon request. Be rest assured you contributions are going to NAAWS and Correctional families who are in need.

Remember Louisiana can also use people to assist. Please contact Warden Robert C. Tanner (RTanner@corrections.state.la.us) should you have a group of folks willing to assist and helping our family clean up and assist in rebuilding.
